83 fresh cases of farm fire

As many as 83 incidents of farm fire were reported across the state on Thursday. While 17 incidents were reported in Amritsar, Tarn Taran reported 16, Sangrur 12 Patiala (eight) and Ferozepur (eight). With this, the total farm fire count has reached 1,295.

The observatory had earlier reported two incidents. The officials of Commission for Air Quality Management and state pollution control board expressed doubt over the figures. However, figures collected from the ground staff turned out to be 83.

Out of the total 1,295 cases Amritsar topped the list with 417 incidents, followed by Tarn Taran (242) and Patiala (140). The state had witnessed 1,389 incidents of farm fires during the corresponding period last year.
