65 panchayats in Mohali elect heads unanimously
A total of 1,172 panchayats in 17 districts of the state have elected their village heads unanimously.
Tarn Taran district tops the list with heads of 338 panchayats being elected unanimously. Rupnagar (139) and SBS Nagar (136) are among the top three districts in the state. In Mohali, 65 panchayats have decided to unanimously elect their village heads. Fatehgarh Sahib witnessed 104 unanimous decisions.
Rupnagar Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain said, “A total of 139 panchayats in Rupnagar district have elected their panchayat heads unanimously. It is a welcome decision as it signifies progressive and developmental outlook.”
Amritsar (2) and Jalandhar (7) were among the Commissionerates, which saw the minimum number of panchayats reconciling to unanimous decision over their panchayats.
