5 candidates barred from Punjab MBBS admissions for multiple domicile certificates
Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) has taken strict action against 5 candidates applying for MBBS courses under Punjab’s state quota seats. These candidates allegedly submitted domicile certificates from more than one state, violating the rules governing admissions.
The decision came after numerous complaints from parents and candidates about applicants using double domicile to benefit from state quota seats in multiple states. BFUHS Registrar Dr Rakesh Gorea stated that these candidates submitted false declarations, claiming they hadn’t applied or wouldn’t apply for admission under NEET UG 2024 in other states.
To address these complaints, BFUHS scrutinised certificates from suspected candidates and asked them to provide evidence to prove their eligibility. Following this review, 5 candidates were barred from admission to MBBS courses in Punjab.
The rules clearly state that candidates cannot avail state quota seats in multiple states using their domicile certificate. The 5 debarred candidates hail from Chandigarh (2), Haryana (1), Chhattisgarh (1) and Uttarakhand (1).
