5 Bambiha-Kaushal gang members nabbed in Jalandhar, police claim targeted killings averted
In a significant blow to organised crime, the Jalandhar Police Commissionerate have arrested five key members of the notorious Bambiha-Kaushal gang.
The arrests led to the seizure of nine weapons, including eight pistols, one revolver and 15 cartridges. According to police officials, this operation successfully thwarted three planned killings, which were intended to target specific individuals.
Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma revealed that the apprehended persons were involved in a wide range of organised criminal activities such as extortion, murder and arms trafficking.
The suspects have been identified as Jaspreet Singh, alias Jassa, a resident of Boparai Kalan in Jalandhar; Harshdeep Singh of Garage Mehdood in Hoshiarpur; Shekhar, a resident of Muradpur near the Tarn Taran Railway Station; Gagandeep Singh, alias Ginni Bajwa, from New Model House in Jalandhar and Amit Sahota, a resident of Bambian Wal in Jalandhar.
The suspects were found to have multiple criminal cases pending against them, linked to serious offences, including the smuggling of weapons and involvement in violent crimes.
Two new FIRs have been registered against the arrested individuals. A case was registered under the Arms Act at New Baradari police station while another was filed at the Bhargo Camp police station.
Commissioner Sharma said further investigations were underway, and more details would be shared as the case developed. “These arrests are part of a broader effort by the Jalandhar police to crack down on organised crime in the region,” he said, adding that over the past 10 months, the Jalandhar Police Commissionerate had arrested 23 notorious gangsters from various criminal groups, seizing a total of 49 pistols, 121 rounds of ammunition and 59 magazines.
