Abohar, July 27

The great-granddaughter of former Lok Sabha Speaker Bal Ram Jakhar is carrying foward the fight against drugs to highlight the campaign of the Jakhar Trust, ‘Nashe se door khelon ki aur’, which was launched long ago. Speaking at a seminar held at a nursing institute here, Meera Jakhar shed light on her commitment to fighting against the drug menace.

Meera said every individual had the ability to make a difference in society by treating the victims of drug addiction with kindness and being empathetic towards them. The trustees, Gurbachan Saran, Vijay Kataria and Jai Veer Jakhar, and Legislator Sandeep Jakhar were also present on the occasion.

Students of DAV Senior Secondary Model School staged a play on the theme.

Mayor Vimal Thatai said drugs had claimed lives of many people across the state. Dr Gauri Shankar Mittal, director of the institute, said everyone should join the awareness campaign against drug addiction and contribute to eliminating the menace from society. Medical practitioner, Dr Purva Middha, said in order to quit drug addiction, one has to develop a strong willpower.
