2 women among 3 held with illicit liquor

The Sherpur police have arrested two women with 16 bottles of illicit liquor, while the Dharamgarh police have seized 15 bottles of ‘theka sharab desi’ from a man. All three suspects have been booked under Sections 61, 1, and 14 of the Excise Act at the Sherpur police station and the Dharamgarh police station.

The police said, based on a tip during patrolling the Sherpur police station, Head Constable Jasjot Singh arrested two women on the Jhaloor road in the Sherpur area. Police officials added that they seized a total of 16 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession.

The police said a case has been registered against the suspects at Sherpur police station.

The police said Head Constable Jagga Singh, posted at Dharamgarh, along with a police party, saw a man in the Dharamgarh police station area who was coming from Jakhepal village with a plastic container. They said they checked the container and found 15 bottles of ‘theka sharab desi’ in it.

In a separate incident, the Mehlan police chowki in-charge, Gurmail Singh, arrested a person with 30 grams of heroin or white powder in Mehlan. A case has been registered against the suspect under Sections 21, 61, and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 at the Chhajli police station.
