Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a plot to attack Sunil Pehalwan, the nephew of former Sriganganagar MLA Raj Kumar Gaur. The scheme was allegedly orchestrated by Arzoo Bishnoi, a close associate of Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi. Investigations revealed Arzoo sent miscreants to Sriganganagar twice, in September and October, to carry out the attack on Pehalwan.

Last month, the Delhi Police Crime Branch arrested seven sharpshooters who were reportedly affiliated with the Bishnoi gang. These individuals were later interrogated by the Sriganganagar police.

Officials stated the Sriganganagar police detained Rajinder Jitu from Dodewala village in Abohar and arrested Abhi Chaudhary from Zirakpur. Investigations indicated both suspects travelled to Sriganganagar to conduct reconnaissance on Pehalwan.

Police sources said Pehalwan received threatening phone calls in late October of last year, leading to a case being registered. However, the perpetrators were not located at that time. A year later, the Crime Branch arrested the seven miscreants who had been planning to murder Sunil Pehalwan.

According to the police, two miscreants were dispatched to Sriganganagar in September to survey Pehalwan’s movements. Sukh Ram Raika of Hanumangarh was responsible for providing them with accommodation and assistance. After conducting their reconnaissance, the miscreants declined to proceed with the attack since Pehalwan was

seldom alone.

Arzoo subsequently sent two more miscreants, but when they were preparing to attack, a dispute arose with Sukh Ram, causing them to abandon their mission. Before Arzoo could send additional attackers, the Crime Branch received information about the conspiracy and apprehended the seven miscreants.

The police said a team led by Sub-Inspector Hans Raj of Sriganganagar is continuing the investigation after Pehalwan filed a new complaint at the Sadar Police Station. Rajinder Jitu’s name emerged during the team’s interrogation; he had been working at a factory in Sriganganagar.
