Surinder Singh Lohari, general secretary, BKU Ekta (Sidhupur), said more than 20 farmers have lost their lives since the protest started. He said all those who laid their lives will be given the statue of ‘Shaheed farmers’, who sacrificed their lives to save the future generations of the farmers.

The mortal remains of Sukhdev Singh were cremated at Dadiana village. On behalf of the district administration, tehsildar Avtar Singh attended the funeral. He expressed deep concern over the tragic death.

Leaders of various farm unions demanded a government job for the family and compensation from the CM’s relief fund. They urged the tehsildar to forward their demand to the state government.
