The police have arrested four persons in possession of poppy husk and opium. Sriganganagar Superintendent of Police Gaurav Yadav said four persons were arrested, who possessed 190 kg of poppy husk and 650 gm of opium. Three suspects managed to escape. A Bolero camper, a Verna car and a Swift Dzire car were impounded.

Yadav said Sub-Inspector Manjit Kaur’s team caught Kan Nath of Dhirdesar and Bhajan Lal of Udasar, who were traveling by a Bolero camper on National Highway 62. While the three other suspects had tried to escape from the police blockade by a Swift Dzire car, the driver eventually collided with the Bolero concerned near Etah village and ran towards the nearby fields along with two others.

Two suspects out of the three were eventually caught by the police, namely, Suresh of Ram Nagar and Mahender Ram of Shejhla Bawdi. Suresh said he and his partner Ashok Godara bought poppy husk from Mukesh Chaudhary of Hemnagar. Madehndra identified two more associates as Bhoma Ram Khudiyala and Birma Ram Chamunda of Jodhpur.
