The state witnessed 16 farm fires on Wednesday, taking the total to 171. Kapurthala reported five cases of paddy residue burning, followed by Tarn Taran (four), Amritsar (three), Gurdaspur (one), Jalandhar (one), Patiala (one) and Sangrur (one). The state had witnessed 119 and 83 such cases during the corresponding period in 2023 and 2022, respectively.
