Dengue is spreading its tentacles in Fazilka district.

According to officials, 139 cases of the vector-borne disease have been detected in the district so far. While 115 patients have been cured, 24 cases are under treatment.

Officiating Civil Surgeon Eric said there were less cases of dengue this year as compared to the previous year.

As many as 229 cases were detected till November 4 last year while the number for the entire year was around 350.

Dr Eric said the Health Department had launched a comprehensive campaign to combat the attack of dengue. He claimed that 121 health teams were pressed into service to spread awareness among residents and to detect the dengue larvae from stagnant water in the different parts of the district. Challans were issued to the owner of the premises where the dengue larva was found.
