1,186 panches to be sworn-in today
The administration claimed to have made adequate arrangements to make 1,186 panches from 176 villages of the district feel at home during the swearing-in ceremony scheduled to take place at Bhogiwal village on Tuesday.
The availability of all basic amenities, including safe drinking water, clean lavatories, resting place, medical facilities and spacious parking places, were cited as features of the venue prepared for the function.
Deputy Commissioner Pallavi said over 100 government personnel from various departments had given final touches to paraphernalia and the infrastructure installed for hosting the district-level swearing-in ceremony of 1,186 panches from 176 villages.
Cabinet Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal will be the chief guest during the function to be held at a resort situated on the outskirts of Bhogiwal village.
“As the swearing-in ceremony is a constitutional event for the elected panches and government personnel, we have tried our best to project the occasion as a democratic festival for all stakeholders,” said Pallavi after overlooking arrangement at the venue, a day ahead of the ceremony.
ADC Sukhpreet Singh Sidhu, Assistant Commissioner Gurmit Bansal, SDM Harbans Singh, SDM Amargarh Surinder Kaur and BDPO Rimpi Garg accompanied the DC during her visit to the venue.
SSP Gagan Ajit Singh informed that special teams of traffic wing officials and Sadak Suraksha Force had been deployed to prevent any inconvenience to commuters travelling on the highway as the venue is situated along the Malerkotla-Ludhiana Road.
