As many as 1,172 panchayats in 17 districts of Punjab have elected their village heads unanimously. Tarn Taran district tops the list with 338 panchayats being elected in this manner. The others are Rupnagar (139), SBS Nagar (136), Mohali (65), Fatehgarh Sahib (104).

Rupnagar Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain said, "139 panchayats in Rupnagar district have elected their panchayats unanimously. It is a welcome decision as it signifies a progressive and developmental outlook."

Amritsar and Jalandhar, at two and seven, respectively, are among the commissionerates that saw the minimum number of panchayats taking a unanimous decision.
