10 women among 15 held for immoral trafficking
The police have arrested 15 persons, including 10 women, for immoral trafficking during a raid at a hotel opposite the Interstate Bus Terminus in Sriganganagar, 4 km from here, last night. Investigation revealed that some women were called from Punjab and Haryana by the hotel owner.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (City) B Aditya said the raid was conducted on a tip-off by Women Police Station in-charge inspector Jyoti Nayak.
Nayak said the hotel operator used to call girls from outside and make them available to the customers for sex. Rs 4,700 in cash and condoms have been recovered from the counter. A case has been registered against the accused under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, at the Women Police Station. Earlier also, some people were arrested for the similar offence from the hotel.
