10 illegal pistols seized in Rajpura, one held

The Government Railway Police (GRP) have arrested a person with 10 pistols and 10 magazines from Rajpura. This is the second consignment of weapons seized in Rajpura.
Ankurdeep Singh, SHO, GRP, Rajpura, said on August 17, their team traced a bag which was thrown from a moving train at the Rajpura Railway Station. “We spotted the bag and started investigation. We recovered 10 pistols and 10 additional magazines from the bag. An FIR has been registered under relevant sections,” he said.
“On the basis of probe, we zeroed in on the suspect identified as Happy of Sekhowal village, Hoshiarpur. We have procured his three-day remand from the court,” said the SHO, adding that they would probe Happy’s links with anti-social elements and from where did he purchased weapons.
A fortnight ago, the Shambhu police had arrested a smuggler from Rajasthan who was trying to pass on a consignment of illegal arms to an unidentified person in Bathinda. Cops had seized four pistols from his possession and were probing the role of a Bihar-based man who provided these weapons to the accused. — TNS
