Punjab have won the 4th Balramji Tandon U-16 Multi-Day Memorial Cricket Tournament on the basis of the first innings lead against Delhi, at DAV College, Sector 10. Punjab won the toss and decided to field. After bowling out Delhi for 124, Punjab scored 362/5 wherein Shanveer Kalsi (165) and Arvind Singh (105) made important contributions.
While Punjab got a mammoth 238-run lead, Delhi scored 110/5 in their second innings. Ranveer Ahuja of Chandigarh was awarded the best bowler for taking 27 wickets in the tournament, while Punjab’s Advik Singh who scored 456 runs was given the title of the ‘Best Batter’. Ahuja scored 57 runs and took 27 wickets and was declared the ‘Man of the Tournament’.
The tournament started on November 4 in which teams from Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Tripura, Mizoram, J&K and Chandigarh participated.
The winner and runner-up teams were awarded by the chief guest Indian Premier League’s chairman Arun Singh Dhumal and guest of honour and former Test cricketer Ashok Malhotra in the presence of UT Cricket Association’s president Sanjay Tandon.
Dhumal said hard work was the only mantra to get success in cricket. Malhotra recalled his days at DAV College and Chandigarh.
