Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria has extended his greetings to people of Punjab and Chandigarh on the auspicious occasion of Diwali and Bandi Chhor Diwas.

The historic Bandi Chhor Diwas, which marks the release of 52 Hindu princes from the Gwalior fort by Sixth Guru Sri Hargobind Sahib, is also celebrated on the sacred day of Diwali.

In his message, the Governor said the festival of lights symbolises the victory of peace over conflict, good over evil and light over darkness.

The Governor appealed to the people to celebrate the festivals of Diwali and Bandi Chhor Diwas in a green and environment-friendly manner by bursting minimum firecrackers and that too safely.

“May Diwali and Bandi Chhor Diwas bring peace and prosperity besides bountiful bliss to our people,” added the Governor.
