In the wake of the party’s performance in the recent Haryana Assembly poll, the Punjab Congress has started getting its act together in the run-up to the byelections to the Assembly segments of Gidderbaha, Barnala, Gurdaspur and Chabbewal.

It is learnt that changes in the organisational structure and focus on performers are on the cards. An indication in this regard emerged during a meeting of party leaders, conducted by Punjab affairs incharge Devender Yadav and attended by Alok Sharma, AICC national secretary and co-incharge of Punjab Congress, and Ravindra Uttam Rao Dalvi, AICC secretary and co-incharge of Punjab Congress. The two co-incharges would be interacting with party leaders and workers in the state for 15 days every month.

“With two and a half years left for the 2027 Assembly elections, preparedness has to be at the grassroots level. We are making organisational changes wherever required. Performance will be the key mantra. Today’s discussions were crucial in light of the upcoming byelections and evaluating party’s preparedness for the 2027 poll while countering failures of the AAP-led government,” sad PPCC chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring.
