Punjab bypolls: Political rivals Amrita and Dimpy share smile and wishes at gurdwara

Setting side acrimony of a bitter and intense campaign, Congress and AAP candidates from Gidderbaha greeted each other at a polling booth as voting began for the bypoll to four Punjab assembly constituencies making for a perfect photo op that symbolises Indian democracy.

As votes were to be cast, Congress candidate Amrita Warring and AAP candidate Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon briefly met each other at gurdwara Guptsar Sahib in Chhateana village early Wednesday morning.

As they greeted each other with a smile, Dimpy was the first to wish Amrita best of luck. She, too, wished him luck.

Amrita had come first to pay obeisance at the historic gurdwara. Minutes later, Dimpy also arrived.

Dimpy waited for a few minutes to enter the sanctum sanctorum as Amrita was already there. Both the candidates looked confident of their victory.

BJP candidate Manpreet Singh Badal was touring the constituency. He spent a few minutes at the booths set up by the BJP near the polling stations to boost the morale of his party workers.
