Pull up your socks, Gurugram MC staff told
Dr Balpreet Singh, Additional Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Gurugram, today asked officials to pull up their socks and ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness in the city.
Addressing employees of the sanitation wing, Dr Balpreet said if they failed to perform their duties efficiently, departmental action would be initiated against them. “Negligence will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” he said.
He said providing cleanliness to the citizens was primary responsibility of the civic body.
He told the Joint Commissioners to visit their respective zones daily and ensure cleanliness of roads, footpaths, green belts, markets. He also asked them to monitor garbage lifting regularly from vulnerable spots and garbage collection points.
All complaints related to cleanliness should be resolved immediately, said Dr Balpreet, adding that the instructions had been issued to ensure regular operation of garbage sucking machines and keep dustbins at public places.
During a review of bulk waste generators (BWGs) under the Solid Waste Management Rules-2016, the Additional Commissioner said all Joint Commissioners should get the BWGs located in their respective zones registered on online portal. If any BWG is not following the rules, then stern action would be taken, he said, adding that it was mandatory to separate wet, dry and hazardous waste. For not following the norms, a fine of Rs 25,000 would be imposed, he added.
