Punjab Public Works and Power Minister Harbhajan Singh on Sunday laid the foundation stone of the repair works of the Narli-Chhina Bidhi Chand road in the presence of Khemkaran MLA Sarwan Singh Dhun.

The 6.64-km-long and 18-feet-wide road will be repaired by the Public Works Department at a cost of Rs 3.46 crore. The project is expected to be completed within six months.

"The repair of this critical road will greatly benefit the area residents, especially the farmers, by providing seamless transportation of crops to the market," the minister said, adding that the road connected the historical town of Chhina Bidhi Chand and Narli with Khalra-Bhikhiwand road and nearby villages with Khalra Dana Mandi.

The last round of repair works on this road was carried out in 2012. The minister assured the contractor would also provide maintenance services for five years after completion.

"The state government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan, is committed to facilitating people from all walks of life," the minister added. Khemkaran MLA highlighted the importance of the road for area residents, stating that its repair would provide essential road transport facilities.
