A seminar, “Project Sampark”, was organised by the police at Arorvansh Dharamshala in Abohar today to strengthen the relationship between cops and the residents.

Senior Superintendent of Police Varinder Singh Brar along with other officials participated in the event. This was the first such event that the administration organised to bring awareness against drugs.

The SSP said the contact was essential not only for security reasons but also for building trust. The main objective of the project is to protect society from drug menace. He said drugs doesn’t only affect the life of an addict, but also his family and the entire society.

The youth were encouraged to stay away from narcotics and increase their interest towards sports and healthy activities.

Brar also answered questions of the residents and assured to address their issues. The SSP appealed to the people to cooperate with the police and do their part to root out drug trafficking. He said making every village and city drug-free was not only the job of cops, but also the responsibility of every citizen. Social organisations, panchayats and youngsters were called upon to play their role in the war against drugs.
