Public not happy with BJP’s ‘anti-people’ policies, says Selja
Ambala, July 27
Sirsa MP and former Union Minister Kumari Selja today sounded the poll bugle for the Assembly election and said that time has come to bring about a change in Haryana.
The Congress MP started the Congress Sandesh Yatra-2 from Ambala City, focusing on the urban segments in view of the Assembly elections.
During the yatra, she was accompanied by senior leader Birender Singh, working president Ram Kishan Gujjar, Naraingarh MLA Shalley Chaudhary, MLA Renu Bala, Chander Mohan, former treasurer HPCC Rohit Jain, AICC secretary Chetan Chauhan and several leaders.
However, unlike previous occasion, pictures of former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and state party president Udai Bhan were seen on the banners installed by Selja supporters for the event.
The Congress leaders started the yatra from Agarsen Chowk in Ambala City and ended it at Jagadhri gate after covering various localities and markets of Ambala City. The leaders were welcomed at various locations during the yatra.
Projecting Kumari Selja as the next Chief Minister, the ticket aspirants belonging to Selja faction showed their strength during the yatra and raised slogans in her support.
While addressing the gathering, Birender Singh said, “Ambala is the place from where the First War of Indian Independence started in 1857, and for the assembly election, Kumari Selja has started the campaign from Ambala to bring about a change in the state. The poor, farmers and labourers are struggling for their rights. The Congress is on its way to oust this BJP government from the state. The Lok Sabha election was contested by the people of this country against the forces who divide people in the name of religion. Similarly, people of Haryana are preparing for the election and they will bring about a change in the Assembly election.”
Sirsa MP Kumari Selja said, “Our efforts will not go in vain. The BJP used to claim that it will get over 400 seats in Lok Sabha election but due to the hard work of Rahul Gandhi, the BJP failed to even get majority. If we had got a little more time, the BJP would have been restricted below 150 seats in the Lok Sabha election.”
She said, “People are not happy because of the anti-people policies and dictatorship of the BJP. During the 10-year BJP rule, Modi said a lot of things and made several promises, but Birender Singh exposed their lies.”
Criticising the BJP government for the closure of Haryana-Punjab interstate border, Selja said, “Shambhu border is lying closed for six months, affecting commuters, farmers and local businessmen. There are many local issues that we will be raising.”
She added, “Time has come to bring a change in Haryana. All the states are watching Haryana. We have been getting tremendous response from across the state and we will take the message of Rahul Gandhi and Congress across the state. People of Haryana are ready to bring a change in the state and Congress will form the next government in Haryana.”
