Shimla District Magistrate Anupam Kashyap today issued orders for complete ban on holding public meetings, taking out processions and rallies, demonstrating, raising slogans, playing bands and carrying items that can be used as weapons for criminal purposes at all places in Shimla city.

Exercising powers vested under Section 6 of the Punjab State Security Act, 1953, he has issued the orders to maintain order. The ban on all kind of public meetings and protests has been enforced from Chhota Shimla to Ridge and Kennedy House, Rendezvous Restaurant to Rivoli Cinema up to a distance of 150 mts, Scandal Point to Kali Bari Temple, Chhota Shimla Gurudwara to Link Road Chhota Shimla Kasumpti Road, Chhota Shimla Chowk to Raj Bhawan to Oak Over, Chhota Shimla Gurudwara to Satti Stairs and footpath towards Kasumpti Road, Cart Road to Majitha House Link Road, from AG Office to Cart Road, from CPWD. Office to Chauda Maidan, Police Gumti above Deputy Commissioner’s Office to Lower Bazaar up to a distance of 50 mts.

This order will not apply to police, paramilitary and army personnel while performing their duties.
