Chairperson Justice Sant Parkash also called for a report from the Fazilka Civil Surgeon and the Director, Health and Family Services, Punjab. The report is to be submitted by October 2, the next date of hearing in the matter.

The commission stated that it had perused the news report, “No anaesthesia specialist at Abohar Civil Hospital”, published in a “leading daily newspaper”, indicating that the state government had failed to depute a regular anaesthetist at the hospital, following which patients were being referred to private hospitals.
