Protest against land acquisition for airport at Balh in Mandi

The Balh Bachao Sangharsh Samiti today staged a human chain protest here today. The farmers of Balh valley are opposing the move of the state government to construct an airport at Balh in Mandi. They want that the airport site be shifted to another place, where less people will be affected.
“The state government is planning to construct an airport at Balh. For this ambitious project, fertile land of farmers would be acquired. Apart from this, residential and commercial properties of people would also be acquired, “ Joginder Walia, a spokesperson for the samiti, said.
“To raise the voice of farmers against the government move, we led a human chain protest at several places in Balh valley today. In the coming days, we will intensify the protest, if the state government does not pay heed to our demands,” he said.
