Promotions delayed, teachers nearing retirement seek relief
Two months after the cancellation of the promotion orders of 688 teachers, the teachers awaiting promotions under the master cadre have called out the Education Department for causing unnecessary delay in promotions.
Long-pending promotions of other cadres (ETT to Master Cadre, C and V to Master Cadre, Master Cadre to Headmaster, Headmaster Cadre to Principal Cadre) have further complicated the process now, with many teachers due for promotions on the verge of retirement, this year.
The state president of Democratic Teachers Front (DTF), Vikram Dev Singh, shed light on how senior teachers from different subjects had not been promoted, which was the result of the negligence of the department, which was now citing technical issues.
“It’s been two months since the department had cancelled promotions of 688 teachers from various cadres and the process is still pending, citing technical issues. This has deprived many senior teachers of promotions, whose promotions were already due in cadres, including ETT to Master Cadre, C&V to Master Cadre, Master Cadre to Headmaster, Headmaster Cadre to Principal Cadre. Some of these teachers will be retiring in their previous cadre soon, robbing them of the benefits that they duly deserved,” he said.
Several teachers, whose names were in the earlier approved list of promotions, have been waiting and demanding to complete the process soon. Teachers from master cadre, due to be promoted as lecturers, have also demanded the promotions be done on time as these were already due since last three years.
The DTF also wants the department to complete pending promotions from ETT to Master Cadre, C and V Cadre to Master Cadre, Non-Teaching to Teaching Cadre, Master Cadre to Headmaster Cadre, Headmaster/Lecturer to Principal Cadre, which have been stalled for many years.
