Gurpreet Singh Riar, state president of the Master Cadre Union, Punjab, has called teachers to perform their duty to teach students with great social and religious zeal that was the need of the hour.

He was addressing a local district level conference held at Government Senior Secondary Smart School in Pandori Gola on Friday. In the conference, the teachers of the master cadre, who have been promoted as lecturers by the department, were honoured by the union as well.

In his address, Gurpreet Singh Riar said the post of the lecturer was known as of much importance in the education department as the lecturer taught students a particular subject with keen interest, and for this, he himself was the master. He stressed that the teachers should be automatically promoted in routine and vacant posts be filled. He said the post of the lecturers was considered a respectful one as the lecturer played a role in the school administration as well.
