Rajeev Ahuja, a professor at Department of Physics and Astronomy, Uppsala University, Sweden, will be the new Director of the Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar. He will take the charge from incumbent Prof Sarit K Das who took over in April 2015 for five years.

Though the term of Professor Das had to be expired last year and the government had even invited the applications in this regard as early as in January 2020, the selection process was delayed due to Covid 19 and he was asked to stay till further orders. — TNS
