Priyanka Gandhi Vadra meets Palestinian diplomat
Palestine's senior-most diplomat in New Delhi, Charge d’Affaires Abed Elrazeg Abu Jazer, recently met Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra at her residence to congratulate her on her victory in the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election. This win secures her position as a Member of Parliament in the 18th Lok Sabha.
During the meeting, Abu Jazer presented Priyanka Gandhi with two symbolic gifts, a photograph of a historic meeting between Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, as well as a traditional black-and-white patterned keffiyeh, a scarf symbolising Palestinian solidarity.
According to a post by news agency ANI on X, Priyanka reaffirmed her support for the Palestinian people's struggle for freedom and independence. She expressed her deep connection to the Palestinian cause, stating that she had embraced its justice since childhood.
Recalling her memories, Priyanka shared with Abu Jazer how she had met Yasser Arafat multiple times during her childhood, during his visits to India to meet her grandmother, Indira Gandhi, and her father, Rajiv Gandhi, both former Prime Ministers of India.
