President Murmu inaugurates Brahma Kumaris’ global summit, shares concern over world peace
After inaugurating Brahma Kumaris’ global summit at Shantivan in Abu Road on Friday, President Droupadi Murmu spoke about world peace and global warming.
The President said since there was unrest in many parts of the world and human values were declining the importance of peace and unity was ever-increasing. She said, “Peace lies not only outside but deep within our mind. Disregarding spiritual values and adopting the path of materialistic tendencies ultimately proves disastrous.”
Elaborating, she said spirituality did not mean being religious or renouncing worldly work. It meant recognising one’s inner strength and bringing purity in one’s behavior and thoughts. She said a pure conscience resided only in a clean and healthy body, emphasising the importance of keeping one’s thoughts and actions clean, too.
Murmu said India had been guiding the world in the spiritual field since ancient times. She said the world was struggling with global warming and environmental problems and people needed to make efforts to preserve the planet. She informed the audience that she had planted a sapling at the Man Sarovar complex and exhorted everybody to plant a tree each year in the name of their mother or on their birthday.
Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde said there had been a decline in the morality of society.
The President was welcomed by Brahma Kumaris’ chief Dadi Ratanmohini who also shared the dais. OC
