President Droupadi Murmu led greetings for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who turned 74 on Tuesday. In her early morning message, Murmu hailed Modi for providing an “extraordinary leadership”.

“Hearty congratulations and best wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday. On the strength of your personality and work, you have provided extraordinary leadership and increased the prosperity and prestige of the country,” she posted on X.

Among Cabinet colleagues, Home Minister Amit Shah was the first to wish Modi. “Heartiest birthday wishes to Modiji who has brought positive changes in the lives of the countrymen through his tireless hard work,” Shah wrote. BJP chief JP Nadda, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, LoP Rahul Gandhi, senior Cabinet ministers Rajnath Singh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan wished Modi. Earlier, Shah had dismissed speculation that Modi would retire from active politics after turning 75 next year.

Shah’s remarks followed AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal’s claim that Modi, in deference to a BJP rule, would hang his boots in 2025 and pass the baton to Shah.
