Stressing on the importance of preserving the ancient knowledge of Ayurveda, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said that the traditional form of medicine should be promoted more widely to treat ailments.

Speaking at the 8th annual ‘sammaan samaroh’ of Bhartiya Dharohar held in New Delhi on Saturday evening, he urged for more research in ‘prakriti parikshan’, a diagnostic method that focuses on understanding the constitution of the human body.

He said that India was a land of immense cultural heritage, which must be safeguarded. He further emphasised that our heritage assigns the status of ‘mother’ to the country and added that foreign scholars, including Max Muller, studied the Vedas and recognised their immense value. “We must not only take pride in our heritage but also raise awareness about it among the youth and children,” he said. He said that India held a unique position as a global centre of spiritual knowledge.

The Governor applauded Bhartiya Dharohar’s dedicated efforts in preserving ancient traditions and serving society.

He released the September issue of the organisation’s annual magazine and honoured individuals who made significant contributions in various fields. Ranjeet Kaur was recognised for her late husband’s contributions, while Chandra Prakash Dwivedi, a renowned writer and director, and Lakshmi Narayan Goel, a social worker engaged in education and cultural preservation in rural and tribal areas, were also honoured.
