Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) convener Jagjit Singh Dallewal on Sunday said that he was fully prepared to make any sacrifice for the future generations of farmers.

He said they had been fighting for legal guarantee on minimum support price (MSP) for crops across the country. The Centre had backtracked from its promises, he alleged.

Meanwhile, as the indefinite fast by Dallewal entered Day 6 on Sunday, sharp fluctuations were noticed in his blood pressure, pulse rate and sugar levels. At 7.30 am, his blood pressure was 122/88 (normal range), pulse rate 103.28 per minute, sugar level 95 mg per cent and body temperature 96.9°F. During the afternoon medical check-up, sharp fluctuations were recorded in his BP (151/105), pulse rate (95 per minute) and sugar levels (76 mg per cent), but his body temperature was found to be normal at 97.9°F. Although his overall health condition is said to be normal, the fluctuation in BP and sugar levels is a matter of concern.

Dallewal’s weight has also been decreasing constantly. During the first five days, he reportedly lost around 7 kg. The farmer leader, however, said there was no need to worry about his decreasing weight or fluctuation in BP or sugar levels.
