Power employees to hold statewide protest on Oct 28
The Joint Front of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited comprising employees and engineers has announced to start statewide demonstrations from October 28. As per the Joint Front, the decision for launching the protest has been taken following the indifference of the government and the board management towards their demands.
The Joint Front had met sub-committee, which has been formed to bring reforms in the electricity board, on Wednesday and had submitted a memorandum of demands to the committee, which is headed by Minister for Town and Country Planning Rajesh Dharmani. The Front demanded immediate restoration of the abolished 51 posts of engineer, review of the decision to remove 81 outsourced drivers, the recruitment of 1,030 T-mate approved in May 2023 and the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme.
“The attitude of the government and the management towards the electricity board is highly discouraging. It seems the government wants to wreck the department. It’s this attitude that has forced us to come out on the streets and fight for our survival,” said one of the office-bearers of the Front.
