Power board will not go into private hands, says minister

Power Minister Sukhram Chaudhary today said the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEB) would not go into private hands. He was here to chair a review meeting with officials of the HPSEB at Chail Chowk under the Nachan segment of Mandi district.
Addressing officials, the minister said to tackle the problem of low voltage in rural areas, officers should work towards replacing low capacity transformers with high capacity transformers. He instructed officials to clear the daily technical flaws in the field so that people could get relief from power cuts.
He said to meet the shortage of technical staff in the board, the government would soon recruit T. mate and junior T. mate. It will speed up the work of the electricity board.
He said officials of the board should work hard to benefit needy people of the state from Mukhya Mantri Roshni Yojana.
Under the scheme, make sure to install free electricity meter in the house of every poor person in the state.
“Due to the work of officers and employees, the HPSEB will not be given into any private hand at all,” he said.
The Power Minister ordered to replace the 25-MW electricity transformer of low capacity with new one having more power capacity at the famous Shaktipeeth in Shikari Devi under the Seraj Assembly segment of Mandi. He also asked officials to lay HT line instead of LT line to remove technical shortcomings to provide power supply to Kamarunag.
