Poll panel revises Ph-II voter turnout to 57.31 per cent
The Election Commission on Friday said a voter turnout of 57.31 per cent was recorded in the second phase of the J&K Assembly elections held earlier this week.
According to the EC, while the overall turnout was 57.31 per cent in six districts that went to the polls in the second phase, the male voter turnout was 58.35 per cent. The female voter turnout remained at 56.22 per cent, while the third gender turnout remained at 30.19 per cent.
Sharing details, the EC said in the 26 Assembly segments, the highest poll percentage of 80.45 was registered in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Assembly segment, while the lowest voting of 19.81 per cent was recorded in Habbakadal constituency in Kashmir.
The highest voting by men, according to EC, was recorded at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Assembly segment, at 80.78%, and the highest female voter turnout was also recorded in the same Assembly segment at 80.08 per cent.
Out of six districts that went to polls, militancy-hit districts of Jammu region—Reasi, Poonch, Rajouri witnessed 74.68%, 74.37% and 71.13% polling. In Kashmir, Budgam, Ganderbal and Srinagar districts record 63.28%, 62.83% and 30.08% turnout, according to EC.
The final phase of voting will now be held on October 1 and the counting will be done on October 8, along with Haryana.
