Politicians resort to mudslinging after arrest of two businessmen
After the arrest of two businessmen of the district by Enforcement Department (ED) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), political mercury has risen in the district.
While addressing a press conference here today, Suresh Kumar, Congress MLA from Bhoranj Assembly constituency, raised questions over integrity of former Sujanpur legislator Rajinder Rana while asking him to reveal his connection with women he was seen at Wood Villa Hotel in Shimla when he was chairman of the media advisory committee during the Dhumal regime.
Kumar was reverting to question of Rajinder Rana in which he had asked what relationship did Chief Minister had with Gyan Chand who was arrested by the ED. Kumar said Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was the MLA from Nadaun and number of people came to meet him. Rana had no authority to ask such questions, Kumar said. The MLA said if Gyan Chand or anyone else had done something wrong, he/she would face the consequences as per law.
Suresh Kumar said the BJP leaders were frustrated after losing Assembly by-elections and failing to topple the Congress government in February this year. He said the Congress was united and would complete its term. He said the Congress would make the state self-reliant. Kuldeep Singh Pathania, Chairman, Kangra Central Cooperative Bank, and Congress leaders Suman Bhart,i Rajesh Anand and Anshul Sharma were also present at the conference.
Meanwhile, in a press release, Rajinder Rana said MLA Suresh Kumar should know that Gyan Chand, who was arrested by the ED, used to travel with CM in his car. He alleged that the track record of Gyan Chand had remained doubtful and his arrest would expose more surprising facts in the coming days.
