The Delhi Police raided a factory involved in the manufacturing and distribution of adulterated desi ghee and counterfeit food supplements, police officials said on Thursday.

Five persons have been arrested in the case, and a factory and godown in Jind, Haryana, where the counterfeit products were made and stored, have been seized.

“The factory, concealed in the heart of Jind, churned out fake versions of high-demand food products, including desi ghee from well-known brands such as Amul, Verka, Mother Dairy and Patanjali,” a police official said.

The operation spanned various locations, including Delhi, Modinagar, Mathura and Jind, with significant quantities of counterfeit products seized during raids, the official added.

The police received intelligence about the distribution of adulterated Amul ghee and similar products in the Delhi-NCR region. Acting on this information, a team conducted a series of coordinated raids at multiple locations, arresting three persons in Delhi and two in Jind.

During the raids, the police seized 240 litres of adulterated Amul ghee in Delhi, along with a stockpile of 23,328 sachets of counterfeit ENO.

In the raid at a Jind godown, the police discovered boxes, tins and tetra packs of adulterated ghee from brands such as Amul, Verka, Nestle EveryDay, Madhusudan, Anand, Param, Mother Dairy, Milkfood, Patanjali, Saras, Madhu, Shweta and Lakshya.

Additionally, the police confiscated large quantities of raw material, packing machines, weighing machines and unused branded packaging at the factory and godown in Jind.

Ritik Khandelwal (24), a Mathura native, reportedly expanded his counterfeit business through contacts in Delhi. Sanjay Bansal (48), a resident of Kanti Nagar, Shahdara, allegedly learnt the trade of manufacturing fake products through previous connections and had been involved in the operation since 2011. Rohit Aggarwal (44) from Modinagar, Ghaziabad, is said to have manufactured counterfeit ENO sachets at his factory in Bawana, Delhi.

The fourth and fifth accused, Krishan Goyal (32) and Ashwani, alias Ashu (32), both from Jind, are reportedly key players in the production and distribution of adulterated desi ghee. Goyal, a partner with Naresh Singhla, is said to have sourced adulterated products for distribution.
