Police to trace money trail in twin killings
To trace the money trail in two murders — one in Faridkot and another in Gwalior — the Faridkot police today produced four accused \Bin the court of judicial magistrate, which remanded them in a four-day custody.
It’s alleged that Navjot Singh, alias Neetu, and Anmolpreet Singh, alias Vishal, two petty criminals had killed Gupreet Singh of Hari Nau village in Faridkot on October 9 and Jaswant Singh Gill in Dabra, Madhya Pradesh, on November 7.
The preliminary investigation by the police revealed that both these killing were done for the money.
After arresting Neetu and Vishal from Kharar on November 10, cops nabbed Balbir Singh, a brother of the former who had allegedly received the money for these killings. The police have also brought Jashan Singh on production warrant from Mohali, who is believed to have had played an important role in introducing Neetu and Vishal to Canada-based gangster Arsh Dalla, who gave directions to execute these “target” killings.
The gangsters had been using vulnerable individuals and petty criminals as pawns in this dangerous game, said a senior police officer, preferring anonymity.
The promise of quick rewards — money, drugs, or escape to foreign shores — is being used to entice petty criminals into doing the dirty work of larger criminal enterprises, with the promise of a better life that rarely materialises, said the officer. “It is creating a vicious cycle of exploitation and violence. The individuals involved are often left to face the consequences alone,” added the officer.
