The police have launched a probe into the incident of a video going viral on social media in which supporters of a party candidate are allegedly raising slogans in favour of Pakistan during a march carried out in Hathin segment of the district.

While the video is reported to be connected with the march taken out by the Congress candidate after filing nomination papers on Thursday, some voices could be heard in which youth could be heard raising the slogan of Pakistan Zindabad for a few times. The video surfaced this morning, according to sources in the political field.

The Congress candidate Mohammed Israil has lodged a complaint with the police that the original video has been edited by some persons to defame him and the party. Condemning it, he said the police needs to take strict action and file an FIR against the culprits as this act was illegal and non-unpardonable. He said both the original and edited one have been handed over to the police.

He said a complaint has also been lodged by the Congress candidate in which he has alleged that a fake video had perhaps been made viral by some opponents to defame him and affect the election process. A suitable action will be taken against the accused if the video is found fake.

He said the residents need to report such incidents as these could affect the communal and social harmony also.
