In an effort to make the state crime-free, Punjab Police have begun cordon and search operations (CASO) in which the top officials from the department, themselves will lead and conduct the search operations on the ground level against snatchers, robbers, thieves and drug-smugglers. In this direction, Gurpreet Deo, Special DGP CAD and Women Affairs, alongwith senior officials of the department today conducted search operations at the bus stand, CRPF Colony Dugri, Suraj Nagar Shimlapuri and other places.

Deo said the exercise was being done by the department to ensure the masses that police were always there for their safety and protection and these search operations would put pressure on the miscreants and curb the crime. She added sensitive points were visited by police officials to convey the message loud and clear.

She added keeping in mind the panchayat elections and the festive season ahead, the department was geared to crack the whip against the criminals. She added the elections would be conducted in a transparent and peaceful manner. She said those indulging in criminal activities, were on the radar of the police and that they would not be spared. The drug smugglers were targeted all over and their properties were being attached by the government and police was adamant to wipe-off the drug menace from Punjab, she added.
