Police issue instructions for storage, sale of crackers
The Haryana Police have issued guidelines to prevent untoward incidents during the storage and sale of fireworks in Haryana. Strict legal action is directed against those selling or storing fireworks without a licence or in an unauthorised manner. As per the rules, no individual can store fireworks without formal permission.
The Police headquarters has issued guidelines to all Police Commissioners, Inspectors General and Superintendents of Police across the state.
The guidelines instruct them to identify and list warehouses, sales centres and transport vehicles involved in firework storage or sales within their respective jurisdictions.
SHO (Station House Officers) and gazetted officers are instructed to inspect all shops or warehouses where fireworks are sold or stored, verifying permissions and ensuring that proper safety measures are in place as per the regulations.
All storage and sales locations must be situated away from densely populated areas, with open space around them to enable people to evacuate quickly in case of any untoward incident.
The guidelines also state that fireworks vendors may only sell fireworks at designated locations, following all safety protocols, including fire safety arrangements.
District administration officers are to coordinate with shop inspectors and form teams to ensure compliance. Deputy Commissioners are directed to form teams to ensure adherence to government guidelines and maintain law and order in their jurisdictions. Instructions have also been issued for patrolling and checkpoint setups in sensitive areas and markets to prevent any potential crimes.
