The school raised voice against stubble burning through an awareness rally. Students of classes V to VII participated with great zeal in it. It was a remarkable effort from Eco Nature Club mentors that had a motive of inciting an awareness among the farmers about the ill-effects of stubble burning. The rally was led by Harpreet Kaur, Mamta Gupta, Zora Singh and the supporting staff of the school across Kalyan and nearby villages. Students acted as volunteers and talked with the farmers about the harmful effects of burning the crop residue and its impact on the soil fertility leading to depletion of nitrogen, phosphorus, sulphur and potassium from the top soil making the land unfertile and unviable for agriculture in the long run. The teachers also talked about how the burning of crop residue is leading to pollution and how it is effecting the nearby areas. Students were holding placards with slogans against stubble burning. Harpreet Kaur, in-charge of the Eco Nature Club, told the farmers about the toxic chemicals which are released during the burning which leads to many respiratory diseases. Officiating Principal Sukhjit Kaur encouraged the volunteers to carry on such activities to create awareness among the masses about the ill-effects of stubble burning.
