Police conduct cordon and search operation in Phillaur, 5 arrested

In an early morning cordon and search operation, the Jalandhar rural police arrested five persons, including a wanted woman smuggler, and seized narcotics from them in Ganna village of Punjab's Phillaur subdivision on Sunday.

The operation, which involved cordoning off the entire village before conducting systematic searches, was carried out under the direct supervision of Phillaur Deputy Superintendent of Police Swaran Singh Bal. Three separate teams strategically positioned themselves around the village perimeter before launching coordinated raids at multiple locations.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Jalandhar Rural) Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said, “The operation was meticulously planned after receiving specific intelligence inputs about drug peddling activities in Ganna village. The police teams firstly secured all entry and exit points before conducting house-to-house searches in the identified areas."

During the operation, which lasted several hours, the police teams made a series of arrests and seizures. The first team, cordoned off the Lassara village area and apprehended Jatinder Kumar and Davinder Kumar. The team seized 150 Etizolam tablets from their possession.

Simultaneously, the second team secured another sector of Ganna village, leading to the arrest of Rohan Kumar and the seizure of 12 gm heroin. In a parallel action, the third team arrested Ninder, seizing another 150 Etizolam tablets.

The operation achieved a significant breakthrough with the arrest of Kashmir Kaur, wife of Naseeb Chand, who had been evading arrest in connection with an FIR registered under Sections 21/29-61-85 of the NDPS Act at the Phillaur police station.
