Police complaint lodged against 'Do Patti' makers
A police complaint has been lodged against the makers of the movie 'Do Patti'. The complainant has demanded the registration of an FIR against the filmmakers and actors for allegedly defaming the Hooda surname in particular and Jat community in general.
The complainant, Surender Singh Hooda, has alleged that the movie was creating a negative and criminal image and wrong impression regarding Hooda surname and the Jat community worldwide.
"I had sent a notice dated 26.10.2024 and a reminder dated 28.10.2024 to the makers of the film 'Do Patti' and OTT platform Netflix to delete the objectionable content and tender a public apology. However, the filmmakers and Netflix did not do that," said the complainant.
He pointed out that the film was still streaming on the said OTT platform and tarnishing the image of the Hooda clan of the Jat community.
"Thus, it is requested to register an FIR under Section 356 (defamation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and other appropriate sections," said the complaint made to the SHO of Rajendra Park police station in Gurugram.
Copies of the complaint have also been mailed to the Chief Minister, the Director General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, Gurugram.
A delegation comprising representatives of the Hooda Khap had recently met the Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, and requested him to get the objectionable content removed from the movie. The Chief Minister had assured the khap representatives of positive action regarding the matter.
Earlier, a mahapanchayat of the Hooda khap organised at Basantpur village in Rohtak district had decided to boycott the movie as well as the OTT platform on which it is streaming.
The mahapanchayat had asked the Central and the state governments to get all such propaganda against the Jat community or any particular gotra/khap removed from various platforms, otherwise it could have serious consequences.
The mahapanchayat had warned that if the desired action is not taken regarding the matter within a month, then a big meeting of the community would be called and a strict decision taken, for which the government would be responsible.
