The Sadar police arrested eight members of a gang of swindlers from Pandori Gola village on Friday. The gang members were impersonating as Central Government officials and duping gullible people by promising to resolve their long-pending grievances. The gang members allegedly posed as the secretary, chairperson, director and vice-chairman of various commissions. The gang included two women members.

The swindlers came to Pandori Gola village in two vehicles on which stickers of their ‘designation’ were pasted. The swindlers, with the help of their designation, assured the villagers that they were here to redress long-pending problems of the public.

Station House Officer (SHO) Surinder Singh said that as soon as the police noticed the matter, a team led by ASI Sawinder Singh reached the spot and found their activities to be suspicious.
