Police arrest two for vandalising woman’s rented shop

The police have arrested two suspects in an act of vandalism when a excavator machine was used to force a woman to vacate a rented shop near the old telegraph office in Sri Ganganagar.
Superintendent of Police Gaurav Yadav said that after going through CCTV camera footage installed around the incident site, two persons were arrested — Prem Kumar (40), a resident of Hindumalkot and Sushil Kumar (32), a resident of Ward No 10. The JCB used in the incident has been confiscated.
The SP said that both suspects were being interrogated to identify people involved in the case. In the wee hours of July 22, the front part of the shop, Shiv Aushadhalaya, was demolished with a JCB machine. The two accused were seen on a motorcycle in front of the JCB machine in the CCTV footage.
Complainant Shammi Arora said she had been running a business of ayurvedic medicines for almost 50 years in the rented shop. A court case regarding the eviction of the shop is already going on. Shammi Arora said she had been threatened for the past seven months to vacate the shop. After receiving complaints repeatedly from Shammi, the city police warned Anil Bishnoi and Sumit Bishnoi two months ago.
The police registered a case against shop owner Ashok Gupta, Murali Manohar Gupta, Anil Bishnoi and Sumit Bishnoi and others.
In her complaint, Shammi Arora said that an air conditioner, Rs 15,000 cash, a laptop and other valuables were missing from the shop after the incident and a scooter parked in the shop was also damaged.
