Police arrest six with weapons

The police have arrested a six-member gang of looters and recovered pistols, two stolen motorbikes, and other weapons from them.
Addressing mediapersons, Rakesh Yadav, SP (Investigation), said the Sirhind CIA team got a tip about a gang of looters that was active in the district. He said the team raided a secluded area in Sirhind and nabbed six persons: Harvinder Singh and Balwinder Singh, residents of Guru Amardas Colony, Rajpura; Ajay Kumar, resident of Akbarpur village; Suraj Kumar, resident of Bhateri village; Arshdeep Singh, alias Kashi, resident of Ward 9 in Bhadson district of Patiala; and Gurvir Singh, resident of Skarali village.
The police recovered a .315-bore pistol, a knife, iron rods, iron daat, and gandasi, among other weapons, along with two stolen motorcycles. The SP said preliminary interrogation revealed that the suspects were planning to strike in the Sirhind area.
Gang of drug suppliers busted
The police claimed to have busted an interstate gang of drug suppliers with the arrest of three peddlers, who used to supply drugs in Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, Ropar, and Mohali districts. The police recovered 1,450 injections and 1,400 bottles of avil from them.
Rakesh Yadav SP (Investigation) said on June 25, the CIA staff arrested Manpreet Singh and Jaswant Singh, both residents of Bhagwant Pura in Ropar district and recovered 50 injections of buprenorphine and 50 bottles of avil from them.
They procured intoxicant injections, tablets and syrup from Ashok Kumar of Pritam Vihar Colony in Ambala City. The police arrested Ashok and recovered 1,400 intoxicant injections and 1,400 bottles of avil from him.
