The Panchkula police have started advocating the use of technology to ensure safe commute for women.

For this, police officials today said women commuting by autos and cabs could avail the services of trip monitoring system by calling the police helpline 112.

They said women could avail the facility by registering their journey through the web-based form. “After giving all the information, the woman’s trip will start. Police personnel will monitor the woman’s trip through GPS. The well-being of the woman will also be inquired by calling from the control room every half and one hour,” they added.

They police would call the woman and enquire about her safety in case the cab or auto stopped mid-way or there was a change in the route. The nearest police emergency response vehicle will be sent in case of problem.
